Michael Pop
Michael R. Pop is a full-time quality improvement consultant for BIS and has spent over two decades providing Quality Management, Quality Engineering, Lean and Six-Sigma support to small and mid-sized manufacturing companies. He has a strong technical and manufacturing background with experience in both job shop and high volume production facilities. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Engineering Technology from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
He has established and implemented Management Systems to meet the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS 9100, and TS/ISO 16949. He is an expert in the area of Six Sigma and has implemented various Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma Strategies saving organizations hundreds of thousand of dollars. He regularly conducts Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt, and Champion training for various types of industries for BIS.
His experience also includes the development, training and implementation of Statistical Process Control systems, for improving process management and control. He is well versed in the use and implementation of continuous improvement strategies using various statistical techniques, including the use of "Design of Experiments" for process and product improvement.
As well as having a diverse background in statistics, Six-Sigma and continuous improvement, he is also accomplished in the utilization of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), ANSI Y14.5M. Not only has he instructed hundreds of others on how to properly utilize GD&T for design and functionality, he is also talented in functional gauge design. He has spent years working with design teams helping design, complete first article/layout inspection, set up proper measurement systems and develop gages and control plans for the finished products and processes.
He has been instrumental in the establishment, and development of several different types of teams including, self-directed teams, problem solving teams six sigma project teams and standing committees. He is an accomplished team facilitator and regularly conducts team training for various industrial and service industries.
Michael has also been an instructor at several colleges and has developed courses for Statistical Process Control, Managing with Statistics, ISO 9000, Six Sigma and Quality Auditing.
