Convergence Technologies Professional (CTP) Program
Voice, video and data convergence technologies are quickly becoming a requirement within the IT landscape. Many companies require integrated, complete, end-to-end solutions in delivering services and value to their customers. Unfortunately, there is currently a distinct shortage of skilled and qualified professionals to sell, install and support convergence technologies to support these business needs. Often, the convergence technology that is conducted is narrow in scope and specific to a particular vendor.
The Telephone Industry Association filled this gap by developing and offering the Convergence Technologies Professional (CTP) training and certification program. This program was created to provide the knowledge and validate the skills necessary to fill high demand convergence job functions. The training has been designed to provide a broader approach to convergence technologies as well as learning how these technologies interface with other software and equipment available in the marketplace.
Manufacturers of convergence technology applications and equipment are recognizing the value of this training and certification program. There are several manufacturers that now require CTP certification for their own higher-level certifications.
The CTP course curriculum consists of forty hours of instruction including hands-on lab projects, and includes:
- Core knowledge of convergence industry standards and protocols
- Infrastructure
- Signaling
- Basic telephony
- Voice over IP (VoIP)
- Topology convergence
- Hands-on projects related to convergence technologies, job tasks, and troubleshooting
