Chinese Business Culture

This unique course is designed for professionals who are doing business with China and need an introduction to Chinese culture, customers, etiquette and business language.

The course emphasizes recognition and understanding of accepted cultural styles within the Chinese business environment.  Focus is on strategies/recommendations to bridge culture gaps and make a direct impact on the successful achievement of business goals.

Vocabulary and conversations used in actual business settings will be introduced.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Have a clearer understanding of Chinese business culture
  • Meet and negotiate with Chinese counterparts
  • Grasp the Pinyin system
  • Conduct some simple business conversations in Mandarin

Sexual Harassment Awareness

Workplace or sexual harassment training is almost a mandate in the workplace today. This training clarifies many of the often murky issues regarding sexual harassment and provides employees with clear, up-to-date guidelines. Topics include: 

  • What is sexual harassment?
  • Rules and regulations
  • Why is it illegal?
  • Different forms of harassment
  • Four ways to identify sexual harassment
  • How to recognize sexual harassment on the Job
  • What can you do?

Train the Trainer

This course is intended to focus on teaching participants to become trainers in the workplace. Topics include:

  • Determining the major functions of a job
  • Flowcharting skills
  • Breaking down job functions
  • Writing proper descriptions for each task element
  • Developing checklists to verify job performance
  • Identifying development opportunities
  • Continuous improvement and coaching skills
  • Coaching vs. disciplining
  • How to give appropriate feedback
  • Praise and recognition

Workplace Spanish for Supervisors

Help your supervisors communicate better with your Hispanic workforce! The BIS approach to workplace Spanish is focused on learning specific, practical vocabulary to help supervisors communicate more effectively in the workplace.

Workplace Spanish for Supervisors - Intermediate

This program builds on Workplace Spanish for Supervisors. Success in this course will come to those who have recently successfully completed an introductory class. The prerequisite for this class is basic Spanish knowledge and shop floor use or direct contact with Spanish-speaking people.
